Upward Bound Program
Students meeting the following federal TRIO eligibility criteria may be considered for selection as Upward Bound (UB) participants:
- 9th and 10th graders demonstrating an interest in attending college

Academic need (low grades, low test scores, and/or have not completed pre-algebra, algebra 1 and geometry math courses)

Low income (eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch) AND potential first generation college student (neither parent has a 4-year degree)

Commitment to remain active in UB throughout high school graduation
The Upward Bound Program can provide:
Academic preparation for college

College preparatory courses
-
After school tutorials & Saturday test preparation seminars (ACT and SAT)

Six-week summer session on the NHCC campus
Educational and career planning
College admissions and financial aid information

PSAT and SAT/ACT information, registration materials, and fee waivers
- Individual assistance with college admissions applications

Individual assistance with scholarship and financial aid applications
Students can also earn up to $40 per month by attending and participating in program activities and cultural events such as visits to museums, plays, and a variety of other events!
UB staff will review all submitted application packets and contact eligible students and their parents to participate in a Student and Parent Interview. Please contact the UB Office for more information and/or to refer a student to receive an application packet.
