Students receiving financial aid have the right to:
- receive sufficient information to understand financial aid programs
- receive sufficient information on policies and procedures
- apply for and receive equitable consideration for financial aid based on eligibility and availability of funds
- discuss eligibility with a financial aid staff member
- request consideration for extenuating financial circumstances
- appeal decisions regarding eligibility including suspension
- request information regarding loan indebtedness and repayment options
Students receiving financial aid have the responsibility to:
- apply for a Metnet email account and regularly check messages
- provide NHCC with current address and phone information
- read and respond in a timely manner to all information from the Financial Aid Office
- read the financial aid website and printed materials
- register for classes by the end of the drop/add period
- regularly attend and participate in class
- understand the application processes and eligibility requirements
- apply annually by published aid application deadlines
- maintain satisfactory academic progress
- drop or withdraw from classes according to college drop/withdraw policy
- inform the Financial Aid Office of receipt of any third party scholarships
