K-12 StudentsNorth Hennepin Community College offers many programs for high school, middle school and grade school students including:
The Youth Academy program with three age tracks - ages 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13 offered in multiple one-week sessions with different themes. This year's theme is safety with classes in first aid and babysitting offered the weeks of July 21-25 and August 11-15, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily
The STARS - Students to Achieve Rewarding Success program for 7th and 8th graders nominated by their teachers or guidance counselors for a week-long summer workshop. This year's theme is Apprentice Business, July 14-18, 2008
The Cornerstones program with $1,500 scholarships given to 60 low-income, minority and first-generation sophormore, junior, senior or incoming college freshman students to participate in its summer program to learn what college life is like and find out what it takes to be successful at it
A new Upward Bound program is a college preparatory program for high school students funded by the U.S. Department of Education and sponsored locally by North Hennepin Community College as part of its TRIO grant. UB is specifically designed to strengthen the academic skills of eligible high school students and prepare them to enter college and graduate with baccalaureate degrees. UB participants may also qualify to receive a monthly stipend based on their attendance and participation.
The Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program that allows high school students the opportunity to earn college credits or to use those credits towards the completion of high school graduation requirements
